2012 Utzon Lecture Series - Professor Richard Johnson
Built Environment 2012 Utzon Lecture Series
Built Environment’s Utzon Lecture Series was officially launched in 2010 by Jan Utzon, former UNSW student and son of the renowned Danish architect Jørn Utzon. Held on a regular basis at the UNSW’s Kensington campus, the Utzon Lecture Series focuses on the presentation and discussion of ideas, issues and perspectives in the design, delivery and management of the built environment. This year Built Environment will host a series of speakers who are leading contributors of national and international significance. These speakers include: Richard Johnson MBE, Architect, of Johnson Pilton Walker; The Hon Sir Anthony Mason AC KBE, former UNSW Chancellor; Professor Deo Prasad, international authority on sustainable buildings and cities; Hiroshi Sambuchi, Sambuchi Architects Japan; Oliver Kratzer, National President Design Institute/Managing Director Ideal Industrial and Mark Armstrong, Blue Sky Group; Michael Neuman, Professor Faculty of Built Environment UNSW; Greg Deas, Lend Lease; James Weirick, Professor Faculty of Built Environment UNSW; and Marion Weiss & Michael Manfredi of Weiss Manfredi, the NYC-based multi-disciplinary design practice.
The next installment of the 2012 Utzon Lecture Series will be held on Wednesday the 24th October at 7pm. The lecture is titled "Sydney Opera House: Legacy and Lessons" and will be given by Professor Richard Johnson, Professor UNSW Architectural Studies
Professor Richard Johnson
Professor Johnson has worked both nationally and internationally with his work varying from pavilions at world expos, to detailed museum and museum/gallery exhibition design, embassies, schools, office buildings, hotels and a range of master planning and urban design, landscape design and architectural projects in Australia and China - all involving exceptional design solutions.
