The short lifespan of many manufactured products is a familiar story. Many items we buy are soon unwanted and discarded. Consumer electronics and gadgets are particularly prone to a short functional lifespan as a consequence of rapid technological change.
This exhibition presents a selection of beautifully designed but ultimately obsolete consumer electronics and gadgets. Alongside, computed tomography x-ray images reveal a hidden inner beauty of these unloved products. Reimagine obsolete products devoid of functional utility as distinctive and beautiful forms. Products are drawn from a collection acquired over many years by the Industrial Design program at the University of New South Wales.
