Message from the Dean
Welcome to Issue 6 of our Alumni Newsletter series. I would like begin by congratulating our alumni, staff and students who have been recognised this year at the Australia Day and Queen's Birthday honours, industry awards and prize ceremonies.
We are celebrating the 40 Year Anniversary of our Landscape Architecture program and will be hosting an event Friday 22 August. It will be an opportunity for all LandArch alumni and friends to join us for the celebration and reconnect on campus.
It is with sadness I inform you of the passing of Associate Professor Elias Duek-Cohen earlier this year. Elias was a well-respected lecturer and colleague and I am sure there are many of you who remember him fondly. He will always be connected to BE through the Elias Duek-Cohen Award in Urban Design which was presented at the Awards and Prizes Ceremony in April.

Best regards,
Professor Alec Tzannes

40 years of Landscape Architecture
In 1974, the University of New South Wales was the first Australian university to offer a degree course in landscape architecture. This forty-year milestone will be celebrated on Friday, 22 August when we invite all Landscape Architecture alumni, industry supporters and faculty friends to attend a cocktail function.

BE Alumni in New York
Alumni Mitch Kidd (BBCM 2005) and Scott Lumby (BBCM 2005) are finding great success in New York’s building boom. They’ve a built strong an impressive portfolio of high calibre clients from fortune 500 CEO’s, leaders in art & fashion and exclusive central park residences. Mitch founded Wellbuilt Company in 2009 and Scott came on board last year. In the company's first year, the business managed to secure a lucrative contract in a high profile building in Manhattan - a job that that helped establish a lot of respect for the firm in the city.
