Career Options

After graduating from the BArchStudies, graduates have several options:

OPTION 1: Continue to Master of Architecture (MArch)

Graduates with a weighted average mark (WAM) of 65 (credit) from a recognised three-year undergraduate degree in Architecture are eligible to apply for admission to the UNSW Master of Architecture degree. October 31 is the closing date for admission to the Master of Architecture for Semester One of the following year. The two-year Masters degree is the professionally accredited degree, making graduates eligible to register as Architects after the prescribed work experience and successful completion of the professional examination.

OPTION 2: Conclude Study and Enter the Workforce

Career possibilities include research and practice positions in architecture multi–disciplinary built environment and design practices, in construction coordination, and in set design and art installation. Students holding the first degree are not eligible to register as Architects.

OPTION 3: Pursue Other Postgraduate Coursework Qualifications

Students may also choose to study a different field at postgraduate level, combining their design skills with a Master in Planning, Construction Project Management, Property Development or Sustainable Development (subject to admission criteria).
