About

The management of the people, processes and products within building construction and property development is a detailed, challenging and specialised expertise. Students in the Bachelor of Construction Management and Property (BCMP) gain a unique opportunity to shape a management-ready career in the leadership of these energetic and dynamic sectors. The complexity of the planning, design, construction and operation of large-scale residential, commercial and public properties requires graduates able to oversee and coordinate large multidisciplinary teams.

Graduates of the BCMP are highly sought-after professionals, with skills involving project planning, risk evaluation, law, cost and quality management, real estate finance, industrial relations and people management, as well as a fundamental understanding of buildings construction and performance.

The BCMP focuses on people and process management within the specific contexts of building construction, property development, quantity surveying and facilities management. Management skills developed include planning, risk assessment, occupational health and safety, property management and organisational behaviour.

The degree provides solid grounding in the many construction techniques and building materials that constitute the built environment. Courses cover all major building types and examine areas such as building services, structures, finishes and temporary structures in specific detail. Students of the BCMP are exposed to many of the allied professions with which they will work when they graduate.

The BCMP also allows a flexible mode of study, enabling students to accelerate their learning and tailor their study to suit a particular area of interest. Majors in Building, Property Development, Quantity Surveying, and Facilities Management are available.

Part time options are possible, allowing students to balance work, study and lifestyle choices. The ability to build a career in the construction and property industry, while working towards a degree from an internationally recognised research university contribute to the status of the BCMP.
