Shawna Ng Hui Min

Shawna Ng Hui Min, Current student, Bachelor of Landscape Architecture

“I am fortunate to be living in one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world and studying landscape architecture alongside internationally recognised academics and industry leaders. I am inspired by Australian environments and culture and feel the degree will enable me to work anywhere in the world. My classes are small and I feel encouraged to speak my mind and to develop my unique passions and talents. I chose the Faculty of Built Environment at UNSW because it has a great international reputation, is recognised as a leader in sustainable development, and takes a hands-on approach to teaching and learning.”

Adam Fowler

Adam Fowler, MLArch 1994; Senior Landscape Architect, City of Sydney

“I chose my course because it was well recognised in the profession in both NSW and throughout Australia. The course was actively supported by the design community within Sydney through guest lectures, a mentoring program and design tutors. This enriched the learning experience and provided me with the opportunity to develop professional relationships while still at university.

"The program focused on design and planning through highly challenging, project-based studios. One highlight for me was a design studio that culminated in a public exhibition of our proposals. Programs were delivered by committed lecturers from diverse backgrounds, academic and professional, design and planning, science and arts. My degree is the foundation of my career and gave me a pathway into a consultancy practice upon graduation. My advice to anyone considering the program would be to take the time to research the profession and seek out people who can provide an insight into the areas of practice that most interest you. There are a range of career paths for landscape architects in government and the private sector.”
