Q. How did your degree prepare you for the workforce?
A.
After studying Industrial Design at UNSW, the degree equip me with a wide range of skillsets that allowed me to operate beyond just design itself. Although, I still like to think I’m designer at heart, Industrial Design broaden how I would approach new and/or existing problems in innovative ways, how to conceptualise problems differently and how to create value better. Industrial Design allows you to think at in all aspects of how to create, build and manufacture an idea.
Q. What is the most valuable thing you took away from your time at UNSW?
A.
Design is more a way of thinking. Once you learn it, you just can’t stop thinking about it. Also the friends you meet along the way, who will shape you as an individual and beyond.
Q. Do you have any advice for current Built Environment students?
A.
Look to collaborate beyond your current degree. Look beyond the ‘I’ and work as a ‘we’ to solve bigger problems. This is what separates ok designer to the legendary designers.
