Join us for the launch of ‘Open Data | Open Cities: Collaborative cities in the information era’, a collection of chapters edited by UNSW Built Environment's Dr Scott Hawken, A/Professor Hoon Han and Professor Chris Pettit from the Smart Cities Research Cluster. This event is hosted at ARUP and chaired by ARUP Australasia Cities lead Tim Williams.
Open Cities | Open Data argues for the public, free and “open” use of digital data to improve our cities by making them more inclusive, resilient and responsive. Opening-up data unlocks the potential for greater value to be generated through unforeseen collaborations, spontaneous urban innovations and improved decision-making insights. Nonetheless, the conflicting desires for urban anonymity, sociability, privacy and transparency often pose challenges in realising the true potential of data in our cities.
The event’s speakers include Dr Scott Hawken, CEO Open Cities Lisa McLean, UNSW Smart Cities Research Cluster Professor Chris Pettit, Director Sitelines Media and ESEM Projects Sarah Barns, Director ineni Realtime Jeremy Harkins and Assoc Prof Hoon Han who will present strategies, tools and insights on open cities and open data.
