Join us for a public talk with Dr Hila Oren - a global leader in creating and rebranding a city's narrative, a champion of entrepreneurialism and philanthropy, and a city-maker - who will present on Tel Aviv’s success as a leader in smart city initiatives.
Dr Oren will talk about the importance of mayoral leadership, and how a city’s most valued assets—its citizens—have provided a city environment that is home to every group and minority, and a place where creative and entrepreneurial economies grow.

Since 2016 Dr Hila Oren has been the CEO of The Tel Aviv Foundation, Israel. By aligning public-private funds, Hila identifies and supports the vision of Tel Aviv’s Mayor and the Municipality through place-making projects to improve the lives of citizens.
Hila previously founded and served as CEO of Tel Aviv Global, an initiative started by the Mayor’s Office of Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality. During her term, the Startup City vision was formed, showcasing a municipal strategic plan for investors, entrepreneurs, tourists and students, connecting a city platform with a private initiative. As a result, in 2014 Tel Aviv-Yafo was awarded the title ‘Best Smart City in the World’. Hila has longstanding relationships with municipalities world-wide. In 2017 she was Christchurch’s first Thinker in Residence as part of that city’s rebranding strategy.
Dr Hila Oren has a PhD from the Department of Geography at Haifa University, a BA and MBA from Tel Aviv University, and completed an Executive Leadership Program at the Harvard Kennedy School.
