"Re-connect" is a showcase of the capstone projects of the graduating class of UNSW Industrial Design (Honours) 2020. These projects are representative of the learning and skills that the students have developed over their four years of study. The works are symbolic of the theme “Re-connect”, which is a testament to our ability as designers to persevere and overcome constraints. Our greatest design constraint this year was connection. Fundamental to everything we do as designers is connection, with each other and the world around us. We use these connections to build ideas and create things that are bigger than ourselves. It is often said that ideas don’t exist in a vacuum, and whilst at times this year it has indeed felt like we were in a vacuum, our tenacity to making connections were the air that kept us alive and kicking.
