Exploration of Form

Mozhi Yin, First Year Computational Design
Cristina Ramos Jaime, Course Convenor

The project introduces students into Parametric Design and Digital Fabrication using Grasshopper. They learn how to rationalize complex geometries into components that can be built, exploring different fabrication techniques, construction systems and materials through the construction of prototypes. Felix Candela’s Thin-Shells are the geometries selected this year to research, creating a collection of different variations.
In this specific case, the work that these prototypes are recreating is:
Chapel ‘San Vicente de Paul’. Coyoacán, Mexico City, 1959.
