Exploration of Form

Nimat Mistry, First Year Computational Design
Cristina Ramos Jaime, Course Convenor

The 1st year Computational Design Studio 1 course introduces students to the relationships between mathematics and geometry to develop parametric definitions of 3D forms for digital fabrication processes. The model shown here demonstrates the rationalisation of complex curved geometry into a network of rods and nodes.  This composite assembly of parts is fabricated from wood sanded bamboo dowels connected via 3D printed polylactic acid filament (PLA) nodes.
