Exploration of Form

Matthew Trilsbeck, Third Year Computational Design
Nicole Gardner & M.Hank Haeusler, Course Convenor

The 3rd year Computational Design Graduation Project shown here demonstrates an exploration of collaborative human-machine fabrication processes for the production of a formally complex artificial reef structure in the sustainable material of 3D printed clay. The bio-reef structure form has been computationally-generated using marine data to facilitate bio-diversity restoration in coastal marine environments devastated by human activity, climate change, and pollution. This project contributes valuable new knowledge towards extending 3D clay fabrication as a viable building and material system.
