Qian Zhang

Postgraduate Research Student

Qian Zhang is conducting research that focuses on developing a framework to explore corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices and factors affecting its implementation in the construction industry.
Zhang, under the supervision of Dr Benson Lim, Dr Bee Oo and Dr Jinu Kim, is studying large construction enterprises in China. Construction is one of the key contributors to China’s economic growth but has also been identified as one of the world’s largest waste generators.
Promotion of CSR performance of Chinese construction firms would likely reduce the negative impact of their business activities on the environment and society. From the industrial perspective, studies have shown that, by being socially responsible, firms could increase turnover, improve public image and hence achieve sustainable competitive advantages and increased overall organisational performance.
