Image Building: Examining the Representational Role of Australia’s Diplomatic Architecture in the Asian Region, 1960-1980.

Rowan’s thesis explores the relationship between architecture and politics in the development of Australian diplomatic buildings in the Asian region during the 60s, 70s and 80s.  It focuses on the representational role that architecture can play in a foreign context and discusses how architecture has been used by both the Australian government and architectural practices to meet personal agendas concerning representation.
