Professor Martin Loosemore

Construction Management and Property, Construction Project Management

BSc (hons), PGCE, PhD, FCIOB, FRICS

As a Professor of Construction Management, my aim is to maximise the positive social impact of the construction industry in the community. This means ensuring companies and organisations leverage their spending to benefit disadvantaged people. My ultimate objective is to help the industry see the community as an opportunity rather than a risk.

UNSW Built Environment has a huge focus on social issues and my research and teaching bring together knowledge from different sectors in the industry to create jobs, resources, training and more.

I’ve always had a strong social conscience and feel it’s important for the health and prosperity of society to make sure that wealth is spread evenly. The construction industry is the second biggest employer in the country and my work facilitates the industry’s ability to positively contribute to society in ways it hasn’t done in the past.
